Biography
While commonly known as Topu Khan, his full name is Sadruddin Topu Khan, born on January 16th in Mirpur, Dhaka. His father, Md. Nasiruddin Khan, is a heroic freedom fighter and retired government official, and his mother is Anisa Khan. Growing up in Mirpur and spending a few years in Savar, Topu Khan, the youngest in the family, harbored aspirations of becoming a filmmaker from an early age. Although his journey into production began in 2006, where he crafted numerous short films inspired by his surroundings, he sought mentorship and learning opportunities from seasoned professionals. Starting as Saifur Rubel’s assistant director, he later collaborated extensively with director/cinematographer Niaz Mahbub, and crossed paths with Tanvir Hossain Prabal, acquainting himself with the nuances of the craft.
Formally, he pursued a BBA/Film Appreciation course to bolster his knowledge. His media career commenced alongside Tanvir Hossain Prabal as an assistant director. Over time, he directed over 50 episodes of the “Oyer Golpo” series as an episode director. In 2015, he marked a significant milestone with the production of the solo drama “Creative Loker Caught Marriage,” featuring renowned actors Mosharraf Karim and Arpana Ghosh, which aired on Banglavision on September 13th of that year, propelling him into the limelight.
Since then, there has been no looking back for him. Swiftly, he has produced a string of popular dramas, showcasing his prowess not only in directing but also in writing plays and screenplays. Topu Khan tied the knot with Razia Khan on December 26, 2012, and is survived by his wife and their daughter, Wajiha Farzin Khan.
